History - The Beginning
INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF SECRETARIES AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS (IASAP). a non profit, Professional Association for Lady Secretaries, was founded at Bombay in 1970. Since then, Regional Chapters have been formed across the country at Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, New Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad and today pride themselves with a membership of around 2000 Secretaries and Administrative Professionals.
IASAP, India is a member of the Association of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals in Asia - Pacific (ASA) and affiliated to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), USA. The Tamil Nadu Chapter of the Association was inaugurated in Madras in 1983 and currently has a membership of about 200 Administrative Professionals who work with Senior Executives of large Corporate Houses, Multi-National Companies, Banks, Hotels, Airlines and other Industries.
Aims of IASAP
IASAP was founded mainly with an aim to establish the status of the qualified Executive Assistants, enhancing the success of career minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education and leadership development.
IASAP’s contribution to the Administrative Professional’s growth
IASAP India conducts the Secretary & Administrative Professional of the Year Contest every alternate year, with qualifying rounds conducted at the Regional level. The participants are given rigorous training in preparation for the contest. The Regional Winner and the Runner Up then enter the all India finals. The Tamil Nadu Chapter has the distinction of three All India Winners and three All India First Runners-up.
Asian Professional Secretary Award
The All India winner represents India at the Asian level to contest the Professional Secretary Award conducted by ASA at the ‘ASA-Congress – a Convention of Asian Secretaries’. This biennial Convention is held in different member countries. IASAP India had the privilege of hosting one of the events.
All India Convention of Secretaries
The All India Convention of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals is conducted once in two years, hosted by its Chapters, where the members from all over the country participate. Chennai has the privilege of hosting this event in 2008
Monthly activities
The Tamil Nadu Chapter meets once a month on a Saturday at one of the elite hotels in Chennai. Eminent motivational speakers give talks and conduct workshops which help Secretaries and Administrative Professionals in their Professional and personal growth. These meetings are excellent opportunities for the Secretaries for fellowship, to exchange information, ideas and to update knowledge in keeping pace with the changing roles of the Administrative Professional.
